The most common way of handmaking an engagement ring begins with the raw materials such piece of sheet, that is saw pierced and formed into the desired shape, then individually soldering on each claw. To make the band, it may be rolled from square stock gauge (Which is a square wire usually 6mm thick) down to the preferred thickness, bent into shape and filed to achieve a profile, such as a half round, flat or knife edge.

A hand finished piece means; the components have been cast. This means the design has gone through a process from CAD design, 3D printed and then cast in your desired metal. A Jeweller then takes the components and hand files, polishes and assembles them.

18ct is made up of 75% fine gold; or some may call it pure gold, and 25% mixed alloy such as fine silver, and palladium or even copper.

Compared to 10k which is made up of 41.7% fine gold, and 58.3% mixed alloy.

While 18k is more traditional and a brighter yellow in colour, the additional alloys in 10k made it slightly stronger and less expensive.
